The Noka Team

Tania Weitsz

Lodge Manager

Tania was born in the Eastern Cape and with a desire to travel and work in hospitality she started her career on the cruise ships sailing the Caribbean...
She quickly rose up through the ranks and found that delivering the most excellent service in sometimes challenging circumstances was incredibly rewarding and soon sought to return to Africa and combine her love of the bush with her love of the hospitality industry.  She has managed lodges in Botswana and South Africa and her adventure now continues with us here at Noka Camp.  She is a natural leader and really excels at taking care of our guests thinking of every little thing they might like to make their stay with us truly memorable.

Michélle Burger

Michélle grew up locally in Lephalale (Ellisras). With her love of nature, a career in tourism was always the obvious choice for her...

She has spent 18 years working in some of the finest lodges in South Africa and Botswana. Botswana’s closure due to Covid 19 is Noka’s gain and we are delighted to have Michelle on our small team. She is looking forward to welcoming you to Noka Camp soon!

Sinhle Mathebula

Growing up around game reserves, Sinhle’s love of wildlife started at a very early age...
Before graduating high school he was selected to take part in a training course at the Bird Life South Africa Academy where he completed his “Bird Guide Level 2” certificate, being one of the youngest in the class to successfully complete it. As soon as he finished school he enrolled in a field guide training centre and spent most of the following five years tracking elephant and black rhino for research purposes. When walking in the bush with Sinhle, his knowledge, the sort that can only be learnt while immersed in the bush, shines through. If you hear a bird call he has already told you the species before you even think to ask. Walking safaris are considered by many to be the purest form of game viewing, with someone like Sinhle guiding you this is definitely true.

Hendrie Cloete

Hendrie spent his weekends as a child, on his family’s farm close to Lapalala Wilderness. He attended agricultural school and represented his country in hockey...
He qualified as a field guide with flying colours and over the years his passion and knowledge for the bush has become legendary.

His love and enthusiasm for what he does is hard to surpass. He is a keen photographer too and has plenty of tips to share with his guests.

David Modise

David was born on a farm next door to Lapalala, his father worked in the reserve and David learned many skills from him at an early age...
After school, he attended the Makhahalele Security training school and became part of the renowned anti poaching team. David’s desire to work closer to home has brought us an incredible tracker whose skills have been learnt over a lifetime. His ability to spot animals kilometres away is extraordinary.

Shawn comes from the Eastern Cape and studied mechanical engineering. He joined the military service and also worked as a special service unit investigator...
With his mechanical and electrical engineering certificates, he served in Iraq as their maintenance foreman for many years before settling into lodge maintenance manager roles. Since he arrived, he has been busy organising our back of house so it is super efficient.
