In our view less is better in the bush. Pack light and focus on warmth and comfort. Early morning game drives can be chilly so go prepared. Safari suits are not essential! But we do recommend you avoid fluorescent and very bright colours. Please bear in mind that packing is best done in a soft bag and aim for a 20kg limit as these are the limits that charter flights or private charters request. Other items to remember include;

  • Passport & visa
  • Day bag or small carry pack
  • Binoculars
  • Camera
  • Sunglasses, sunscreen and a hat
  • Insect repellent

In addition to some comfortable clothing for daytime in the camp, we suggest you bring:

  • Long trousers for game drive and the evening
  • Long and short sleeve cotton shirts or t-shirts
  • Sweatshirt (lightweight in summer for those early mornings)
  • Fleece (for winter) or windbreaker
  • Swimming Costume
  • Walking shoes and sandals
  • Woolly hat and gloves (for the winter months from May to September)

During the winter months of May to September, you will find the best wildlife viewing. The vegetation thins out during this dry season and even more animals will be congregating around the water holes.

The summer season from October to April brings lush green landscapes and much warmer temperatures. This is the season to experience the multitude of newborn animals and migrating birds.

Children will be most welcome at Melote House but due to the clifftop location of Noka Camp we cannot accommodate children under 10 unless the camp is exclusively booked.
